Project Description
Resource Yard Remodel
Longmont, Colorado
Community-Oriented | Commercial | On the Boards
Resource Yard is “an innovative nonprofit in Boulder, Colorado determined to make conservation so simple that you don’t even realize you’re doing it.” 1 Caddis was tasked with designing a large canopy to cover Resource’s outdoor salvage yard, protecting Resource’s trove of lumber, cabinetry, old doors, windows, and more. The new steel canopy not only provides protection from the weather but is designed to allow for natural light to filter towards the middle of the structure reducing the dependency on electrical light sources.
The existing metal framed warehouse was thermally improved with new insulated metal siding, insulated overhead doors, new skylights, new public toilets, and energy efficient heating and evaporative cooling systems.
The new canopy over the donation lane also provides protection for the first stage of receiving donated material before organizing it under the new larger canopy for Selling it.
