Jesús Bendezú is a project architect at Caddis Collaborative and contributes over 20 years of experience and in-depth knowledge of sustainable issues, strategies, and design from residential and institutional projects to corporate and commercial.
He is deeply knowledgeable in building science, detailing and materiality, and building code and brings to project teams his expertise in specialized aspects of architecture, including energy efficiency; passive solar; natural daylighting; natural, non-toxic sustainable materials and methods; and healthy building specifications.
Jesús has worked in notable sustainable architecture offices, learned from pioneers of sustainable design, and practiced integrative building design and a whole systems approach to problem-solving. A licensed architect, he has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2004, having worked on over 40 LEED certifications, some with leading technology companies in Silicon Valley. He designed the first strawbale residence permitted within the city limits of Austin, Texas.
He believes in a cooperative approach to visioning and problem-solving and feels that all hands at the table are essential to bring a project into reality. This allows Caddis to move projects forward and overcome obstacles that are inherent in all development and construction projects.
As a senior architect, Jesús is the go-to person on staff for questions related to sustainable design. He supports all of the other lead architects, and he nurtures the knowledge of Caddis’s younger architects. Jesús creates a bubble of calm around the projects he manages, both in the office and with our clients and consultants.
A bilingual English/Spanish speaker, Jesús holds a five-year B Arch from Iowa State University, where he graduated with distinction.
