Karin Hoskin
Business Manager
Organized. Resourceful. Enthusiastic.
Karin Hoskin’s dream as a child was to grow up and “be the boss,” but she has learned during years of business development that she is most successful and satisfied when working collaboratively to forge ahead. She spent her first career in medicine providing patient care and having her own private practice.
When she shifted gears, she became fully focused on business management and development. Karin served for several years as the executive director of the Cohousing Association of the United States (CohoUS) before entering private sector work and joining Caddis. Karin lives at Wild Sage Cohousing, just one short block from the Caddis office. As the leader of the nonprofit side of the cohousing movement and now the business manager for one of the primary cohousing architects in North America, Karin understands the value of community and is deeply familiar with the difficulties communities face.
And when Caddis is creating a project that is not connected to cohousing, Karin helps the team think about how to build a new housing project or development or neighborhood that feels more like a community.
The steward of the office vibe, Karin brings positive energy to her work at Caddis. Wherever she goes, she creates fun and community. Of course, Karin does a great job of supporting Caddis’s architectural services by making sure the team has all the things they need to do their work well. She keeps the office running, brings the money in, and knows where to order the toilet paper. Karin also has a gift for paying attention to staff members. She nurtures each team member individually, and she keeps everybody supplied in chocolate.
Karin sits on the Housing Advisory Board for the City of Boulder, volunteers at the local homeless shelter, and bakes cakes for underserved children. In 2022, she was named TGTHR’s Volunteer of the Year for her work doing street outreach to homeless youth in Boulder.
A Colorado girl, Karin lives with her husband, mother-in-law, one cat, and two dogs in Wild Sage Cohousing. Her young adult kids have recently launched but still live nearby. Several years ago, Karin designed a snowsuit for her dogs and now offers those snowsuits to customers through a small cottage business, www.doodlesuit.com. When not hard at work, she relaxes at her family’s off-grid mountain cabin.
