- Project Type: Multi Family
- Location: Roaring Fork Valley, Colorado
Located between Aspen and Snowmass, Roaring Fork Valley has a land parcel with an existing mobile home park that is adjacent to agricultural fields and on the banks of the Roaring Fork River, abutting the Rio Grande Trail.
The revamped Phillips Mobile Home Park is designed to have 73 units, including some mobile homes and 30 to 40 new housing units, including duplexes and stacked flats. A particular challenge to this project was the steep slope we had to work with as we designed the housing.
Also crucial to this project was the need for new home sites. Some of the existing mobile homes will be moved out of hazardous areas, including wetlands, floodplains, and debris flow areas. Many mobile home parks in Western communities were originally placed on marginal land, and as a result, many of these homes are not currently in safe places. The goal is to move residents into permanent housing and at the same time to create an affordable, energy-efficient, community for working families.
