Located in the Wonderland Hill neighborhood of Boulder, Jarrow Montessori School is Colorado’s first and oldest Montessori school. With 170 students from 18 months to 12 years, The Jarrow mission is to “support each child’s joyful discovery of self in the journey to becoming a confident lifelong learner and compassionate citizen.”
Caddis’s primary role was to sort out complicated entitlements so that the school had a clear pathway to add future buildings, allowing them to serve more families.
As part of our work for Jarrow, we designed an addition and remodel of a Montessori-style classroom. Daylighting was crucial for this project. We also created different microenvironments inside one classroom to support different learning styles and learning experiences. Only six to eight students use the classroom at a time, and our design allows them to migrate from activity to activity. Our ability to design for children served us well on this project.
