The owner of this property on a natural site near Boulder, Colorado, wanted to have a strong sense of connection to nature, including local wildlife and plant species. Also key was for the home to be highly energy efficient. Designed to meet passive house certification, it offers net-zero energy. The house also met Boulder County strict energy and wildfire building requirements.

This property included an accessory dwelling unit (ADU); spaces for community gatherings; and an area that could be used in the future by family members and that could be offered in the meantime as a short-term rental on Airbnb.
