An innovative, independent school serving grades 6 to 12, Watershed engages students in learning that really matters by applying math, science, the arts, humanities, and more to real-world challenges.
Watershed has built a new campus in the Gunbarrel neighborhood of Boulder. The new school is an adaptive reuse of an existing multi-tenant restaurant/office/warehouse building. We assisted the school in finding land with a suitable building to repurpose and conducted the entitlement and rezoning process. We then provided space planning and interior design to support Watershed’s creative educational process.
University of Colorado students contributed some artistic work to the endeavor. The project also incorporated the use of multicolored shipping containers to create innovative classroom spaces. We designed open, modular spaces with the shipping containers that included excellent daylighting. Repurposing shipping containers is an architectural trend we were happy to follow. The result is a fun place to learn.
