A Very Merry Fly Through at CoHousing Houston

One of the standard services Caddis Collaborative provides when designing a new community is a “fly through.” A fly through video allows future residents to move through a fabrication of their community. They can imagine how they’ll move through the space, greet their neighbors, use the common house, and more. This is especially important when we’re building a cohousing community – as the way people interact with the built environment and with each other is so crucial to the dream realized.
Recently, we created a fly through for CoHousing Houston, a new community we’re designing in the East End of Houston, Texas. Apparently, one of the younger members of the forming community was especially inspired by that fly through. This 11-year-old member created his own fly through of the community at Christmas.

The video fly through he created takes the viewer from the community’s common house, where someone is cooking something tasty for dinner. Next, it’s on to visit a neighbor named Miss Lynn and drink hot cocoa at the candy cane house. The tour ends with playing at home and taking a peek at downtown Houston, where there’s snow!
Kudos to this young cohouser for the holiday visit to CoHousing Houston! Learn more about his forming community on their Facebook page.
