- Project Type: Single-Family Home
- Location: Boulder, Colorado
The greenest home is the one that makes the most of an existing structure. That principle is evident in this refurbished home in Boulder – a smaller-scale project that has a big impact. This budget-friendly home was originally 1,760 square feet, 880 square feet on each level.
Keeping the home’s original footprint, we gutted and flipped the spaces within the house so that the kitchen and living room are now in the back. As a result, the family now has access to the backyard, thus providing great indoor-outdoor living and easy family life. The garage was adapted so that it became a bike and gear room with the bonus of beautiful carriage doors. Added to this are vibrant colors, new vaulted ceilings, new windows and doors, and energy-efficient upgrades to the existing building structure.
